Baseline

Compared with the account’s own history.

Each check compares the period you choose with the same metric over the weeks before it. Today so far and yesterday are compared with the same weekday, so a quiet Sunday is measured against other Sundays.

  • Today so far, yesterday, the last 7 days or the last 30 days
  • 4 to 26 weeks of history, 8 by default
  • Today so far leaves out the latest hours Google has not finished reporting, 3 by default
Sources

Google Ads, GA4 and Merchant Center.

Watch a Google Ads metric for the account or one campaign, a GA4 metric for all traffic or one channel, source, event, country or device, or a Merchant Center product count.

  • Google Ads: cost, clicks, impressions, CTR, average CPC, conversions, cost per conversion, conversion rate, conversion value and ROAS
  • GA4: sessions, users, engagement, key events, revenue and more, plus a channel’s share of sessions
  • Merchant Center: disapproved, limited, pending, eligible and out-of-stock products, against the last 7 days

Setup

Choose how far is too far.

Pick an increase, a decrease or either direction, and a sensitivity: High (15%), Medium (30%), Low (50%) or your own percentage. ppctor posts when the metric crosses it, and again when it is back within range.

  • Checked hourly, every 6 or 12 hours, or daily
  • Set up in Slack with /ppctor anomaly create, or on the web
  • Mention the person who last edited it, or @here or @channel

Good to know

  • A check waits until there are at least four comparable periods of history, and skips a metric whose history is zero.
  • Ratios such as CTR, cost per conversion and ROAS are calculated from the period’s totals, never averaged from daily ratios.
  • Merchant Center checks compare the current product counts with the average recorded over the last 7 days.
  • Baseline history and reporting delay are under Advanced settings on the web.
  • /ppctor anomaly pause all pauses every anomaly check for the channel’s account.
