Review configuration against the organisation's actual requirements
Optimise Google Ads settings for enterprise teams: turn configuration evidence into precise reviewed decisions
Establish the relevant account settings, their business purpose and their dependencies. Use the shared capability framework to prepare supported changes, then keep owner approval, technical outcomes and later commercial results distinct.
Define the enterprise requirement first
Enterprise settings optimisation should begin with a specific business requirement. A regional service operation, international store and course provider can need different configurations even when their accounts use similar campaign types. The organisation's delivery area, commercial objective and operating constraints determine what deserves investigation.
A useful request describes the intended effect: limit a selected campaign to an agreed market, preserve the correct primary outcome population or change an eligible daily budget. A broad instruction to optimise everything gives too little information for a safe account rewrite. Break it into relevant questions and establish the facts each decision requires.
Audit findings can identify configuration worth reviewing. They are prompts under stated assumptions, not an enterprise policy that every recommendation must be applied. A regional exception may be intentional, and the business owner can explain why. Passing all heuristics does not prove that the account is commercially successful.
Keep advice and authority separate. The assistant can explain alternatives and prepare a supported proposal. The connected owner confirms its exact live effect. Participation in a discussion, approval of a strategy document or a previous account edit does not give the assistant continuing permission to change similar settings later.
Establish the relevant current baseline
Read the settings needed for the actual decision. A campaign-location question needs its current criteria and applicable intent setting; a budget question needs the budget relationship and relevant current values. Retrieving every field from every resource adds work without necessarily improving the answer.
Current provider evidence and internal planning notes serve different roles. A regional brief may describe an intended configuration that another operator has not applied yet. Conversely, an operator may already have corrected a setting after the brief was written. Keep the observed state distinct from the supplied business intention.
Identify the selected resource and correct parents. Enterprise accounts can reuse names across regions, product lines and campaign types. Resolve ambiguity before recommending or preparing a mutation. Showing meaningful parent names makes the scope understandable without appending raw resource identifiers to every user-facing label.
Consider concurrent activity. Another team can edit the same campaign while the conversation continues. An initial read establishes a baseline for analysis, while the execution path needs relevant current checks to protect the prepared effect. Conversational memory is useful for retaining the business question; it does not guarantee that account state remained unchanged.
Discover operations through the shared framework
The assistant uses a shared capability framework rather than a separate improvised handler for every sentence. Local action definitions establish the target type, required parameters and operation notes. The API-backed schema extends discovery with typed provider fields and methods, while the builders and validators enforce the actual supported request.
The dependency catalogue describes account, campaign, ad group, asset group, ad, keyword and other relevant relationships. It identifies which creation actions produce resources and which later parameters can refer to them. This lets a supported multi-step request be planned before making unnecessary discovery calls.
Channel compatibility matters. Search keywords, responsive search ads, Performance Max asset groups and Demand Gen groups do not share identical requirements. The framework checks the applicable channel instead of assuming that a resource called an ad group can receive every kind of child asset.
Local discovery is valuable because it can answer what input an operation needs without reading live account data. Actual account ownership, current target state and provider validity remain separate checks. The framework should reduce unnecessary calls without turning its local table into a substitute for the evidence required to execute correctly.
Separate field visibility and supported effects
A field can be readable without being writable through the current application path. A method can be represented in the local schema without every account combination having a verified runtime result. Keep these distinctions explicit when the enterprise team asks whether a proposed setting change is available.
The convenience catalogue also records unavailable actions. The recorded auto-apply recommendation endpoint is unsupported, and the automatic HTTPS destination action lacks its required verification path. These entries should produce an accurate limitation rather than a fabricated successful proposal.
Some operations return a provider acknowledgement while others support independent result verification. The final output should reflect the actual evidence. A broad claim that all settings are fully verified would hide the difference and make subsequent enterprise review less reliable.
The user does not need to understand every implementation boundary to make a decision. The assistant can explain the practical effect, required input and real limitation in plain language. When a task is unavailable through the current path, it should identify the appropriate next action instead of routing the user into an unrelated feature or silently changing the request.
Review the outcome definition
Settings decisions need a clear result measure. A generic Google Ads primary conversion total includes the selected primary actions; purchase and lead populations are narrower definitions. Secondary actions should not be silently added to a primary-only business question. The enterprise owner needs to know which population the recommendation used.
Conversion value can include value assigned to primary non-purchase actions. Purchase-only value is a different metric. Calling both revenue without context can make a budget or bidding recommendation appear better supported than it is. Establish the definition before comparing a provider result with another system's purchase revenue.
Individual named actions can be investigated when the business asks about a specific outcome. A corresponding GA4 event needs an explicit confirmed selection for a meaningful named comparison. The assistant can help identify plausible candidates where the available tool supports discovery, but a likely event name is not proof of equivalence.
Primary leads can include several lead categories, while primary calls and offline actions can also contribute to reporting. These populations can overlap with other totals and should not be added as independent components without checking the definition. A measurement review clarifies the decision's evidence; it does not authorise an unrequested conversion-setting edit.
Scope tracking configuration accurately
Auto-tagging, account tracking templates and final URL suffixes are distinct settings. An audit concern about one should not lead to a broad claim that the account has no measurement. The application can inspect relevant configuration, while actual website and analytics implementation may need separate evidence.
Enabling auto-tagging is an account-level operation. It does not require campaign discovery merely because campaigns contribute to performance. The framework should identify that scope locally and prepare the supported exact effect with the appropriate owner confirmation.
Clearing an account tracking template is also a specific action. It does not necessarily clear the final URL suffix or every lower-level tracking setting. The proposal should explain what changes and avoid suggesting that all tracking controls are being removed together.
A website route can fail for reasons outside these account fields. Do not remove tracking as a speculative fix for a reported destination issue without establishing the intended repair. The team responsible for the customer journey should confirm the actual route behaviour and any required implementation change.
After a supported tracking-setting edit, verification establishes that account effect. It does not independently prove end-to-end attribution, cookie consent handling or purchase-event correctness. These later checks remain part of the organisation's measurement responsibilities.
Match locations and intent to the business
Location criteria and location intent answer different questions. The criteria identify selected places; the intent setting governs the applicable relationship to those places. A business request to target a country with Presence Only needs both effects understood, rather than treating the country criterion as sufficient.
Google's location-targeting guide describes retrieving and changing geographic criteria, including supported geographic areas and proximity targeting. The application's exact action still needs the appropriate target, location resolution and channel-specific prerequisites.
A service organisation may require physical presence in its operating area. A destination-based offer can have a different legitimate intention. The enterprise owner should establish the business reason rather than apply the same intent preference to every campaign as an unquestioned best practice.
Adding selected places and replacing the complete current selection have different effects. The proposal must make that distinction visible, including intended removals. Otherwise, a request to add one market can accidentally become a request to discard the existing regional coverage.
Radius and business-location operations bring further dependencies. A new store-location group may need asynchronous population before a later radius operation can use it. The local framework should identify that prerequisite instead of promising that every newly created location object is immediately available in one grouped request.
Treat campaign language as its own setting
Campaign language criteria are account configuration with a business purpose. They should be investigated in the selected campaign context and changed only when the user intends that effect. A research request or the language of a Slack message is not an automatic instruction to rewrite campaign language targeting.
A multilingual enterprise may use different creative and landing pages for different audiences. The business owner should confirm which experience the campaign is intended to support. The assistant can explain the configuration without assuming that a regional account must use one language simply because that language appears most often in its name or channel.
Keyword research context is a separate workflow. Its selected geographic scope does not become a campaign edit, and a research-only choice should not be described as a live targeting change. Keeping research and account configuration distinct prevents a useful planning conversation from acquiring unintended provider effects.
When a language-setting request is explicit, resolve the supported criteria and review the exact addition or replacement. Preserve the campaign hierarchy and any dependencies required by the current path. The final result should say which configuration changed rather than claim that all future visitors will use the intended language or see the correct website automatically.
Review network and automation choices
Network and automation settings should be evaluated against the selected campaign's purpose and evidence. A Search campaign's display-network setting, search-partner choice and AI Max configuration are distinct controls. They should not be collapsed into one generic automation switch.
The convenience catalogue includes specific supported actions for eligible channels. A channel-specific action cannot be applied to an incompatible campaign simply because the user describes a similar business objective. Resolve the campaign type before preparing the change.
Performance Max final URL expansion is another separate choice. Enabling it changes the applicable campaign behaviour, but it does not establish that every possible destination matches the organisation's approved customer experience. The business team should understand the intended scope and any relevant website constraints.
A recommendation to restrict a network needs a stated reason. The team may be reviewing quality, regional eligibility or a planned allocation. A broad claim that one network is always wasteful does not follow from a settings read. Use the relevant performance evidence when it is necessary to support the decision.
Later results should use the same definition and scope that informed the original recommendation. If the organisation changes its measurement population at the same time, a simple before-and-after comparison may no longer isolate the network effect. Keep those concurrent changes visible.
Distinguish budget and bidding decisions
A daily campaign budget controls one provider spending resource. A target CPA or target ROAS belongs to a supported bidding configuration. An account-level pacer allowance is a monitoring comparison. These related numbers affect different decisions and should not be treated as interchangeable settings.
The focused budget path checks non-shared daily ownership before changing a campaign's amount. A shared budget can affect several campaigns, so a proposal naming one campaign must not imply an isolated effect when the resource is shared. The current relationship is part of the required evidence.
Target adjustments have their own eligibility and bounded convenience rules. An existing compatible target differs from changing the bidding strategy or establishing a target on a new campaign. The assistant should not substitute a strategy switch for a requested target adjustment without explicit instruction.
A projected spending shortfall can justify investigation, but it does not prove that a larger budget will create useful demand. Commercial quality, operational capacity and the organisation's spending mandate remain relevant. The setting proposal should reflect the selected business response, not merely try to make a pacing colour look healthier.
Review status and structural dependencies
Status changes are exact actions on exact resources. Enabling an ad group does not necessarily enable its campaign or create missing ads. Creating keywords does not automatically include an unrequested group-status change. A complete multi-step request must keep each intended effect visible.
New-resource requests need parents in the correct order. A supported campaign creation can provide a planned reference for a later group, and that group can provide the target for compatible children. Local dependency planning prevents the assistant from making provider discovery calls for resources it has not created yet.
The dependency framework covers several campaign channels rather than assuming every sequence is Search. Each channel still has its own valid children, required inputs and adapter limitations. Comprehensive planning means those differences are declared and enforced, not that incompatible assets are allowed everywhere.
Removing a resource is a different decision from pausing it. Creation followed immediately by removal is not a useful supported substitute for an existing-target operation. The framework should reject incoherent sequences and resolve the user's actual intention before preparing a live proposal.
Creation status must be explicit in the review. A new paused campaign or group may be useful for preparation while the team finishes other readiness tasks. The receipt should not imply live delivery simply because the provider accepted the new structure.
Choose the correct negative-control scope
Negative controls operate at different scopes. An account-wide app-category exclusion does not need campaign discovery. A campaign negative, ad-group negative or shared negative list affects its own target relationships. Establish the intended scope before collecting data or preparing the operation.
Creating a negative list, populating it and attaching it are distinct effects. A list that exists without the intended attachment may not influence the requested campaign. Conversely, modifying a list already attached elsewhere can affect more than the campaign named in the current conversation.
The proposal should identify the exact negative terms, supported match behaviour and attachment scope where relevant. A vague request to exclude irrelevant searches requires enough evidence and business context to determine which terms the owner actually wants removed from eligibility.
Exclusion is not a universal quality improvement. A brand or product term can be unwanted in one campaign and essential in another. The organisation's segmentation plan and commercial objective should determine the response. Keep that context visible when a heuristic suggests a negative that another region deliberately uses.
After execution, verify the supported configuration effect and review later traffic separately. The existence of the negative does not prove that every future unwanted interaction is prevented or that the remaining traffic is profitable.
Preserve the intended creative effect
Creative settings include more than the visible headline. Responsive search ad content, pins, display paths, final URLs and status can all matter to the organisation's intended message. Establish the supported operation's complete effect before presenting the owner with a narrow-sounding update.
A full RSA replacement can remove pins and clear omitted components under that path. If the enterprise wants to preserve approved wording or paths, the proposal must include the relevant complete content and explain intentional removals. The review should not describe a replacement as a one-field change that leaves everything else untouched.
Creating a new RSA is another operation with its own target group, required content and destination. Bare public-domain input can be normalised to an HTTPS address where the supported preparation allows it, but the assistant should not invent a missing product path or claim that the resulting website route has been tested.
Shared extension assets and campaign attachments also need exact scope. Creating an asset does not necessarily attach it to the intended campaign. Detaching one relationship differs from removing content used elsewhere. The framework should preserve those distinctions in both dependency planning and the readable proposal.
Draft suggestions can remain conversational. The assistant can brainstorm headlines from supplied business facts without reading the account. Uploading the selected content requires the account tools and owner confirmation. This lets the enterprise use creative assistance without making every wording discussion a live-edit workflow.
Keep product targeting relationships intact
Product targeting is a tree of relationships, not a flat list of inventory products. A Performance Max campaign can contain multiple asset groups, each with its own listing partitions. Standard Shopping uses ad groups with comparable product-selection relationships. An item can therefore be included in one group and excluded in another.
Occurrence counts preserve that distinction. The same product excluded in two enabled groups represents two excluded targeting occurrences, even though it is one unique inventory product. A summary should make its counting unit clear and identify the selected campaign and group scope. Enabled-group scope must not be silently replaced with every historical group in the account.
Broader branches can exclude products through a brand, category or another subdivision even when the tree does not contain a separate excluded leaf for every item. Exact product questions may need the relevant inventory relationship to establish which products match that branch. Counting only explicit item-ID leaves can understate the requested population.
The inclusion action works from verified selections and preserves unrelated partitions. Replacing the complete product selection is a different operation. The owner should see whether the proposal changes selected occurrences or rebuilds the intended selection, including any scope limitations that apply to the current tree.
A performance filter adds evidence requirements. Products with return above a chosen value need the appropriate historical metric joined to the targeting occurrence without multiplying observations or treating unknown values as zero. A complete count cannot be claimed from a capped preview or an incomplete inventory relationship.
Separate audiences, signals and prerequisites
Audience-related operations have different targets and purposes. Creating an audience resource, using it as a signal and changing an asset group's audience relationship are not interchangeable effects. The framework should identify the required resource and attachment rather than treat every audience request as one generic campaign setting.
Some supported operations require an existing reference, while others can use the output of a compatible creation step. The local dependency rules identify those relationships before the provider request is prepared. This reduces unnecessary discovery while preventing a child action from referring to an object of the wrong type.
Business-location groups illustrate a dependency that cannot always be resolved immediately. The parent sync relationship must already be suitable, and a newly created subgroup can need provider population before a later action uses it. A correct plan recognises asynchronous readiness rather than forcing every business request into one immediate sequence.
Required business declarations remain owner-supplied facts. The assistant should not infer a political-advertising declaration or a merchant relationship from the account's name, website topic or another campaign's setup. A technically convenient guess can create the wrong business representation.
These requirements are part of reusable capability planning. The enterprise can ask new combinations of supported actions without a dedicated sentence-specific tool, while the same declared target and prerequisite rules continue to govern preparation and execution.
Follow an invented regional settings review
Consider an invented enterprise, Maple Shore Services, reviewing a Search campaign called Regional Repairs. The business supplies an explicit instruction that the offer serves customers physically present in its selected market. The current relevant read establishes the campaign's location criteria and intent setting. This is an illustrative review, not a customer result.
The team confirms the intended market and requests the supported targeting correction. It also asks for clearer RSA wording, but does not yet authorise an upload. The assistant can draft the creative alternatives conversationally while preparing only the exact requested account-setting proposal.
The proposal names Regional Repairs, describes the location and intent effects separately and identifies any intended removal from the existing criteria. The connected owner can understand the result without inspecting raw geographic resource names. If relevant current settings change before execution, the stale proposal must be refreshed rather than applying the earlier effect blindly.
After the owner confirms, the technical result establishes the supported configuration outcome. The team still reviews later delivery and business quality using the agreed period and outcome definition. The unchanged creative draft remains a draft until the owner selects content and explicitly requests a separately reviewed upload.
This sequence shows why a shared framework is useful. The same local target, parameter, dependency and confirmation rules support several settings questions, while conversational assistance remains available without unnecessary provider calls or hidden live changes.
Prepare the complete supported sequence
A multi-step request should be interpreted as the complete intended outcome. If the user asks to add keywords and enable the existing group, the framework must represent both effects. Completing the keyword step alone and reporting the whole request as finished loses the business instruction.
Dependency planning orders supported parents and children locally. Planned references let a new campaign supply a group target and a new group supply a compatible child target. The planner should not call the provider to discover an ID for a resource it has not created yet.
Existing-only rules remain important. Product partition changes require verified existing trees, and some target adjustments require existing compatible configurations. The fact that a creation action exists for a parent does not make every later setting immediately valid on that newly planned object.
One confirmation does not guarantee one atomic provider transaction across every service. Dedicated tree operations can have separate submission boundaries. The planner must respect those boundaries and explain material partial-outcome possibilities instead of claiming universal rollback.
If the request is too large or includes an unsupported effect, do not execute a convenient subset under the original instruction. Explain the practical limitation and ask for a smaller coherent request or the required supported alternative. Complete intent, valid dependencies and readable review matter more than producing an incomplete apparent success.
Investigate and propose in Slack
Slack conversation can begin with a plain-language question about the business effect of a setting. The assistant should distinguish an explanation from a request for current account facts. A general discussion can use established context and local capabilities, while an actual configuration claim needs the relevant account evidence.
Follow-up messages should retain the identified account, target and business question. If the user refers to the campaign just discussed, the assistant should resolve that context rather than unnecessarily asking for its name again. Current-setting checks still protect later execution when the account may have changed.
Creative work belongs in the same conversation without requiring an API call for every reply. Suggestions for wording, an internal explanation or a launch checklist can be produced from supplied facts. Actual keyword metrics, current creative content and live edits require the corresponding tools.
Read and preparation work stays behind the scenes rather than becoming a public stream of internal request traces. The user receives the useful answer or reviewable proposal. Executions have their own durable account-change record and visible result.
Keep output ordering consistent. Ordinary AI replies place the user mention before the feedback footer, which remains last. Progress and execution messages use their dedicated status presentation. A participant should be able to recognise whether the assistant is discussing, awaiting confirmation or reporting a completed technical action.
Review clear steps before confirmation
The confirmation card should name the exact target and correct parents, followed by separate readable action steps. Each step describes its business effect in ordinary language. A wall of provider terminology makes it too easy to overlook a status change, replacement removal or attachment effect.
Raw resource IDs should remain internal when names and hierarchy provide the necessary client context. Undefined parent values and an ad group shown as its own parent are not harmless display mistakes; they make the scope harder to review. The presentation should use the actual target relationships consistently across action types.
The pending card states that no changes have been made yet and that the proposal expires in fifteen minutes. Confirm and Execute is the live approval action. Cancel applies to the pending proposal, not a promise to reverse an account change that has already been accepted.
The connected-owner and actor checks remain tied to the selected account and original interaction context. A forwarded card or participation in the channel does not create execution authority. The application also binds the confirmation to its prepared message so the button cannot casually approve a different proposal.
After confirmation, a prominent progress state acknowledges the click. The controls should not appear to invite repeated execution while work continues. The final receipt reports the actual supported outcome rather than leaving the owner to infer success from an unchanged button.
Use current checks and supported validation
Pre-execution checks protect the intended effect. They establish ownership, relevant current settings and applicable operation constraints. Where the provider path supports a preview, validation can identify request problems before the live mutation. These checks do not replace the owner's business decision.
A relevant setting mismatch can make a proposal stale. The correct response is to stop and prepare a fresh proposal reflecting the current resource, not force the original request through because the business conversation still sounds valid. This is particularly important when several enterprise operators share the account.
Post-execution verification answers a different question: what supported result can be established after submission? A provider-valid request can still have an uncertain delivery or response outcome. Distinguishing validation from verification helps users understand why both stages can be necessary.
These checks should be proportional to the action. The application does not need to rescan every campaign for an account-only setting or repeat a complete performance analysis when the exact target is already established. It does need the current evidence that materially protects the approved write.
No check establishes every possible future business consequence. A successfully changed location setting does not guarantee customer quality, and a verified RSA does not certify policy approval. Keep the technical boundary clear while arranging the appropriate later observations.
Interpret the actual execution receipt
A verified receipt confirms the supported technical result. Provider acceptance without complete independent verification is a distinct state and should be described accurately. An uncertain dispatched outcome means the live change may already have applied and requires reconciliation.
Do not replay an uncertain mutation automatically. The organisation can inspect the actual resource state and stored execution before considering another live request. Repeating the full sequence could create duplicate resources or apply an adjustment again.
Slack message delivery is separate from the account mutation. A recovered receipt should report the stored result, not trigger another provider edit. The user can see an updated original card and a thread result as two surfaces of one operation, rather than two independent executions.
Include the recognisable targets and material effects in the receipt. A multi-step request should account for each supported effect rather than report only the first one. Where the actual provider boundary permits partial outcomes, state what is established and what remains unresolved.
Technical completion is also separate from provider review and commercial success. A newly created paused resource exists without serving. A revised ad can await review. A budget adjustment can be correct while later demand differs from expectations. The receipt should remain clear about the milestone it proves.
Avoid unnecessary account and storage work
Use local capability discovery to identify the target and prerequisites before making provider calls. The action table and dependency rules live in code rather than requiring a database lookup for every conceptual relationship. This is useful when many connected accounts ask similar kinds of questions.
Reuse compatible evidence within the conversation. A successful campaign selection can support the explanation and proposal preparation without another identical ranking call. Required fresh setting checks still serve their own purpose before execution.
Do not retrieve a broad inventory when a focused resource or field selection answers the question. Product relationships can require additional data, but only the requested scope and relevant conditions should drive that enrichment. A complete aggregate must still preserve coverage rather than silently count a capped sample.
Creative drafting and general explanation can remain local to the conversation's supplied facts. Current account facts need reads, and durable approval or execution needs storage. Treating every wording request as a provider-backed research job creates avoidable latency and rate pressure without improving its answer.
Keep recovery work focused too. Message recovery uses stored execution state, safe read recovery follows the appropriate bounded policy and uncertain writes need reconciliation. These distinctions reduce unnecessary provider, database and queue work while preserving the approved account effect.
Observe the later business outcome
After a reviewed settings change, use the same metric definition and scope when evaluating its intended result. If the organisation changes the conversion population or reporting period at the same time, make that difference explicit before comparing the numbers.
Allow for the actual observation window. A configuration can be verified immediately while its spending or outcome pattern needs later completed data. The follow-up should not interpret one incomplete day as conclusive evidence that the change succeeded or failed commercially.
Retain concurrent business events. Promotions, inventory changes, website repairs and other account edits can influence later results. A before-and-after movement supports investigation, but it does not independently isolate the effect of one setting.
Leave a concise handoff containing the original requirement, selected target, intended effects, technical outcome and next owner. Pending, expired, cancelled and uncertain work should remain distinguishable from completed changes. Another regional operator needs that state before preparing a follow-up action.
Connect the routine with enterprise audits, reviewed account changes and stakeholder reporting. The audit raises the question, the proposal defines the exact supported change and later reporting evaluates the business evidence. Consistent definitions make those activities useful together.
Answer enterprise settings questions
Should every audit recommendation be applied?
No. Review the business requirement and relevant evidence. A justified regional exception can remain appropriate.
Does the framework support only Search dependencies?
No. It declares several channel and resource relationships, while each operation retains its own compatibility and prerequisite rules.
Can readable fields always be changed?
No. Readability, current write support, account eligibility and independent verification are separate capabilities.
Does a setting discussion authorise an edit?
No. The connected owner confirms the exact prepared proposal before its live execution.
Can the same product have several exclusion occurrences?
Yes. Separate enabled asset groups or Shopping ad groups can target the same inventory product differently.
Does verified execution prove a business improvement?
No. It establishes the supported technical outcome. Later policy, delivery and commercial observations answer different questions.
Why not retry when the final response is missing?
A dispatched write may already have applied. Reconcile the resource and stored execution before preparing another live attempt.
